Upon leaving the harbor the crew will drop the “Trawl” Shrimping net and explain all of the parts and how they operate.  Once the net is set your guide will give you the detailed seafood and maritime history.  You will learn exactly what makes Gulf of Mexico shrimp the best.  After 20 minutes, the net is pulled up and dropped on the back deck.  Your guide will sort through the catch and explain each species caught and what their purpose is in the Gulf of Mexico.  Then some will be placed in an aquarium aboard the boat so that you may get a closer look at them and see them actually swimming around as they do in their environment.  As for the remaining catch….If you are brave enough you can feed the pelicans and seagulls who follow the boat each and every day looking for their next meal!  Also nine times out of ten the dolphins come to the surface to see what leftovers they can find beneath the birds.

Finally at the end of your tour the Captain will become your guide.  She will give all of the history of Deer Island and our world famous Biloxi beach.  Also she is very knowledgeable about the birds and other wildlife here on the Gulf Coast and will go into detail about our beloved brown pelicans.
